In a Tempe garage or lab somewhere, the future of defense—and maybe lunar industry—is being built. Crow Industries, a robotics startup founded by Arizona native and ASU alum James Crowell, is developing intelligent unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for battlefield and industrial use. But don’t be fooled by the short-term use cases. The long-term goal? To help industrialize the Moon and Mars.

“I came up with the idea for Crow Industries when I was 11 years old,” Crowell said on a recent AZTF News livestream. “I’ve been obsessed with space since I was a kid, and I’ve spent my entire academic and professional life getting ready to build this.”
