SoftBank founder reportedly eyes billion-dollar data hub in Arizona as state cements its role in U.S. tech infrastructure.
SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son has long been known for audacious investments, and recent reports suggest he is now eyeing a roughly $1 billion data center deal in Arizona. Unconfirmed industry chatter indicates SoftBank is in talks to finance a major data-hub project in the state – a move that would fit Son’s aggressive push into U.S. tech and infrastructure. In December 2024 Son told U.S. officials SoftBank would invest about $100 billion in American AI and related technology over four years . Some of that capital is expected to flow into data center capacity , and Arizona’s booming data hub is an obvious target.
